The Inspiration: Configuration Compliance & Infrastructure Drift Engines

Inspired by enterprise configuration management tools (such as Terraform drift detection and cloud compliance frameworks), FDI needs a native Configuration Drift Inspector. This utility provides a single pane of glass to verify that settings across Dev, Test/UAT, and Production remain in lockstep.

Problem Statement

Through my architect lens, I want to ensure alignment across all my environments. Over time, enterprise FDI environments quietly diverge. It isn't just metadata bundles that drift - pipeline schedules, system parameters, data server parameters, feature toggles, data augmentations and even patch levels have gone out sync across environments temporarily.

This causes major release friction:

"Works in Dev, Breaks in UAT" Syndrome: Features fail during promotion not due to bad code, but because of underlying configuration mismatches between environments.
Painful Troubleshooting: Finding a single mismatched parameter across multiple console menus requires manual cross-checking.
Post-Refresh Gaps: After environment refreshes or quarterly updates, verifying that non-production instances match Production configurations is tedious and prone to human error.

Proposed Solution: Yagnesh's :) "Environment Drift Inspector"

Introduce a centralised Environment Comparison Matrix within the FDI Console:

Multi-Environment Linking: Securely link Dev, Test, and Production FDI instances for cross-environment auditing.
Side-by-Side Comparison Matrix: Compare critical platform configurations in a single view:
- Pipeline Settings: Refresh schedules, extraction parameters, and pipeline feature flags.
- System Parameters: Application settings, data server settings, and feature toggles.
- Deployment State: Applied bundle versions, system patch levels, and semantic extension revisions.
Visual Delta Highlighting: Clearly colour-code discrepancies and offer an exportable Drift Compliance Report (CSV/PDF) for Change Advisory Boards (CAB).
