BI Apps 11.1.1.10 Database Change

Hi,

We installed BI Apps 11.1.1.10 [ ODI and OBIEE 11g] on a database but our company is changing servers and they will be creating new database for us.

Can someone point me if Oracle has a document for this scenario or do we have to do fresh installs of BI Apps again.

Thanks,

what's changing?  Sources / Targets / Environment / some combination of the three ...

    Thomas,

    Thanks for the reply.

Our source PSFT will remain the same.

The database server where BI Apps Metadata and DataWarehouse is hosted will be changing.

I just want to make sure we do not have to reinstall applications[ODI and OBIEE] and there is a simple way to copy data from old database to new database and have ODI and OBIEE use the new database server.

Successful BI teams have a dedicated and knowledgable DBA ... there's no 'easy button'.  I don't believe you need a re-install ... you will need to run the appropriate RCU modules to get the structures into the new database - unless you have someone (the DBA) that can move structures and data to the new server.

Our DBA will migrate the data and sure the everything is in tact for server move.

My question was from application side. Is there a document which lists steps to move ODI from DB_SERVER1 to DB_SERVER2.

I believe the ODI has metadata which is present currently in DB_SERVER1. How do we tell ODI to say now the metadata and Warehouse is now in DB_SERVER2.

    Thanks,

If you are moving ODI repositories ... I'd ask about that in the ODI forum -- that's one you don't want to mess up!

I would suggest you get a set of VMs where you can run through these moves - reset easily if it doesn't work - before you attempt this on any of your systems.  There is a lot of detail and moving parts to the OBIA environment.
