OBIA 11.1.10.2 Install with OBIEE 12c

    Hi,

I am setting up a OBIA/OBIEE env and wondering if its possible to install directly with OBIEE 12c?

Documentation install only mentions that needs to be OBIEE 11.1.1.9 and then migrated to 12c on a separate box which I find strange

Appreciate any input on setting this up

    Hi,

    You can't install directly in 12c because the content (rpd & catalog) is installed for 11g. Changing from 11g to 12c isn't like adding a patch, it's a real upgrade, rpd and catalog need to be upgraded as well.

    That's why you can upgrade after installing on 11.1.1.9 but can't skip that step until a native obiee 12c OBIA will be released (and will also probably have ODI 12c).

    Thank you. I kept looking in metalink after the post and basically confirmed what you say.

    Are you aware if its possible to upgrade odi to 12c after the install on 11g in a similar manner as its done with OBIEE? I wasnt able to find a metalink note on this.

    Nope, you can't upgrade ODI, for that you will need to wait the next major release of OBIA (no idea what kind of release date to expect).

    As OBIEE only display things it's kind of independent and that's why you can upgrade it with no problem (and still have a certified system). ODI is really the heart of your OBIA and so would require to change so much that's why they will release a native version for ODI 12c.
