Password Protect Scheduled OTBI Excel Analysis
Summary
Question on whether it's possible to add a password to OTBI output
Content
Hi,
I'm looking to add a password to the output produced by OTBI Analysis (excel format) where we use an agent to run the report and deliver to recipients email inboxes.
I'm unsure if this is possible / if so how to do it - does anyone know? Have seen some questions/articles which are dated - it previously wasn't possible - so things may have changed since.
Many Thanks
Gary

A PDF Output can be password protected for sure.
Need to check if this can be done in Excel too.
You may refer links (for PDF Password protected file in links below)
Dynamic password : https://apps2fusion.com/oracle-fusion-online-training/fusion-applications/fusion-payroll/1776-dynamic-password-protected-in-oracle-hcm-cloud-application

Thanks for the quick reply Ashish. I've had a look at the instructions but haven't found a way to do it on excel. At the steps below I don't have an option to navigate to a "formatting tab". Though I didn't change the default format of the report to PDF which you note in the previous step.
If you find a way to do it please let me know.
Many thanks
Gary
For this we need to perform the below steps:
-
Click on Edit Report
-
Click on ‘Properties’ button
-
Navigate to Formatting Tab

You cannot Password Protect Excel output in BI Publisher as there is no option provided by oracle. I have used PDFs with password protection, which you can configure by following Ashish's instructions above.
There was an enhancement request to make this available in BI Publisher but don't think it is delivered but you can check with oracle support.
If you are trying to do this in OTBI Analysis and not the publisher side then password protection is not supported.
Thanks

On the Report Properties > Formatting tab, there are now Password fields for Docx, pptx and xlsx as the technote suggests.
There is nothing to be done to enable the protection itself. The user needs to modify the report properties to add a password for any/all of these outputs.
See attached screen shot for example, a password was added for the docx output:

Hi Gangi,
Thanks for the update. This functionality looks to be for BI Publisher reports only. Is it available / planned to be made available for OTBI Analysis which are scheduled via Agents?
Thanks
Gary
