Summary:

Error while calling Oracle BI Publisher REST API in 22A

Content (required):

Hi Everyone,

Tried calling REST API for Oracle BI Publisher from postman but got error from Oracle Public cloud with 404 code and page not found error message.

Not sure what could be wrong with the URL. Gave below URL :

https://<<host>>/xmlpserver/services/rest/v1/reports/Custom%2FIntegrations%2FOIC%2FCommon%2FCurrency%20Conversion%20Report

Tried '%2F' instead of '/' and also '%252F' instead of '/' but didn't work, got the same error. For space used '%20'.

Please help.

Thanks

    Hi Shashidhar,

I'm also trying to use BIP REST APIs and I can't get them work. Same error.

I'm wondering if they are actually supported in BIP for Fusion Applications, even though I can't understand why the wouldn't be.

    Thank you,

    Claudio

    Hi All,

Unfortunately, REST API is not supported for BI in Fusion.

    @Gaurav Bharadwaj-Oracle

May I ask you why BIP REST APIs are not supported in Fusion? My understanding is that they were not supported because the embedded BI was a 11g version but with Fusion 22A update the underlying fusion middleware is also updated to 12C version. So BIP is also update to 12c version. Thus, why REST APIs are not available?

    Thank you,

    Claudio

    Hi Claudio,

Your general understanding is correct that 12C brings with it REST API support, but the BI Publisher Codebase used for Fusion and Standalone 12C is different.

If you are a Fusion Consumer, BI Publisher will not have support for REST API.

Please continue using the webservices provided for Fusion : Fusion Application BI Publisher (BIP) : Available Public Webservices in Fusion Applications (Doc ID 2086077.1)

    Hi Gaurav,

Does it worth open an Idea about it or there are no chances REST APIs will be supported in a future update?

    Thank you,

It is definitely worth logging an Idea for this.

Please provide the business use case in the Idea and how the existing webservices are inadequate.

Basically, try to explain why REST API availability is quite important to your business.

Once the Idea is logged, it will be under product management review for feasibility.

I don't want to post any new idea, since my previous idea didn't gain any response from Oracle (Restrict integrations based on logged in user - Idea Number: 573454).

The idea lab is already filled with so many redundant/irrelevant posts and it's really hard to find useful ideas there. Neither community members can find them to vote, nor Oracle can find them.

So it's better to implement some kind of approval process on that idea lab and allow only valid ideas. If not, I'm afraid the purpose of Idea Lab can't be achieved.

    Thanks

    Shashidhar

Rest API's are not currently supported. Please review the below documentaiton about the available webservices

Fusion Application BI Publisher (BIP) : Available Public Webservices in Fusion Applications (Doc ID 2086077.1)

Thank you Raj for the affirmation.

Did anyone eventually end up logging an EH for this?

We have strict policies on using OAuth for integrations and the BI Publisher SOAP integration does not allow this :-(. I don't want to post the idea if so many comments have already been made on this and the DOC ID states that there are no plans to deliver this :-( (not sure why not though).
