Reusable Bins/Custom Fields

Description
[11.1.1.9] Reusable Bins/Custom Fields
Use Case and Business Need
I would like to have a Bin or custom field formulas in OBI that are reusable. This would allow me to maintain the Bin/Formula in one location and it would dynamically update all of the reports and filters that are associated with it.
An example would be our recruiting model. We are regional based on the recruiter location. Any changes to the region breakout, new recruiters, or recruiter alignment requires us to go in and update every report, filter, dashboard prompt and analysis with the updated information.

You can create a shared filter and reuse this filter in reports. When the filter formula changes, you only need to change the shared filter formula once and all reports using this shared filter will pick up the new logic. How to create a shared filter: click New -> Filter; create the filter and save it in a shared folder; add this shared filter to a report.

Thank you for the response. I like the filter idea and will give it a try.
Will this allow the field to be in the output as well as just being filtered on?
For example: Regions. We'd like to see Central Region, for example, in the output as well as being able to filtered on. Right now, we're updating all of our reports when we get a new recruiter or if a recruiter moves to another region.
Thanks.

Dana,
A new feature to 'Save a custom column and re-use it across analyses is implemented in OBIEE 11.1.1.9
This will help your use case
Thanks

Hello - Did you ever learn how to do this? We are hoping to do the exact same thing. Thanks!
