Report looking for an event completed started 'Yesterday' instead of a date would make a scheduled report powerful!

Use Case and Business Need

Report looking for an event completed started 'Yesterday' instead of a date would make a scheduled report powerful! Report builder only uses date ranges. BI Reporting doesn't offer dates as a criteria for reports although I suspect we could create a custom report with a date field. Can we do that and use a variable instead of a date or date range? A scheduled report that runs daily would be so powerful if it didn't need to be sorted/filtered after the fact.
