Fusion Applications BI - How To Take a Automatic Backup of All Custom BI Reports and Analyses

Hello,

We want to take backup of All Custom BI Reports and Analyses & custom folders on a regular basis to avoid getting deleted by mistake.

Is there a way to automate periodic backup of custom reports/OTBI folders in fusion ERP cloud?

Please let us know.

Thanks

Shiva

    Hi,

To backup manually takes only a few steps (~6 clicks).

In global header select Catalog, select folder /Shared Folders/Custom/, select task Archive, select true or false on the 2 fields, select OK. System dialog Save As to download file Custom.catalog. Select Save.

To automate this assume you can maybe build something using the bi webservices /analytics/saw.dll?wsdl.

So lets say it takes ~60 seconds to do this manual, ~8 hours to code a automated procedure, you backup once per day, you may get a return on your investment in about 480 days time :)

    Hi Shiva,

Automatic backup of catalog objects is not supported out of the box. Please note that taking a backup of the whole catalog is not advisable as it would slow down the process when archiving all the objects. Imagine some developers making changes to a few catalog objects when the archive is taken.

As per the best practices, Please archive the particular folder/ object for efficient backup.

    Hope it helps.

    Regards

Is there any web service where we can schedule to take backup of particular folder.

I am curious about the same. This is a bad user experience @Oracle.

There should be an ability to backup everything. Because how archaic file management is in the catalog, I don`t want to just backup one file at a time, having a period backup allows for investigation and additional flexibility. Please provide a backup scheduler.
