DB upgrade in OBIA 11.1.1.10.2

Question

Hi,

We now have OBIA 11.1.1.10.2 installed on RHL with target DB Oracle version 12.2 and OAC as frontend with RPD loaded.

We are planning to upgrade  the DB  version to 19.23 . The db is installed on a dedicated VM , separate from the VM on which the other BI components are installed.

Is there any activity to perform on the various BI components or it will be "transparent", just stop&start?

Compatibility matrix certify DB up to 19c, so I don't expect problems with this upgrade. Does anyone have any suggestions or warnings?

Hi Adriana,

Thanks for posting in OBIA Communities page.

As long as there is no change in the database connection details post database upgrade, there should not be any changes needed on the OBIA side. Please make sure the upgrade is done when no other jobs are running, like during a maintenance period.

I would still recommend to upgrade OBIA to the latest release 11.1.1.10.3 PS4 for continued support in case there are any issues faced.

Hi,

thank you for your answer. The upgrade will be performed by DBA department, so I think they are aware of scheduled system jobs, while other application components will be shutdown before the activity. the only component that will not be switched off is the frontend Oracle Analytics Cloud, but no one will try to use it during upgrade activity and there aren't scheduled jobs. DB connections shouldn't be modified. So in this scenario I shouldn't expect any problems.

Unfortunately, for the OBIA release upgrade we cannot plan it anytime soon.
