Consider allowing a Popup to be created for the FDI home page.
Currently in business we need to notify users about update dates for some reports. A Popup available to be activated on key dates would be ideal.

You mentioned notifying users about Update Dates - what type of updates would you be notifying them about? Is it updates to how the report is formatted/created (in other words: workbook author-induced changes), or updates to the data itself (measure threshold-based changes; like changes to a KPI), or something else?
