EBS: 12.2.10

Database: 19c (19.18.0.0.0)

OS: IBM AIX OnPower 7.2 64 bit

I want to use BI analytics on my local desktop. What are pre-requisites for this installation? Will it be installed like BI publisher or it requires different environment or OS?

Purpose of this installation is to develop rtf templates for excel reports which could generated in EBS with .xlsx extension so output file size could be reduced.

    Ok, so you would like to install Oracle Analytics Publisher (let say latest version, 8.2.0) to replace your current BI Publisher 12.2.1.4. If this is all you need, you can stay with Publisher only, you don't need the whole Oracle Analytics product.

    "Oracle Analytics Publisher" (OAP) is just the new name of "Business Intelligence Publisher" (BIP), just like OBIEE was renamed to OAS.

    The requirements for OAP are the same as OAS (the first link of the first reply here above), because you install OAP by installing OAS. You then choose that you only want OAP during the configuration step of the product.

    This means you need a new OS because you can't use your IBM AIX: as said it's either Windows Server or some Linux versions.

    Hi @Sohail Anwar ,

    Welcome to the Oracle Analytics community and forum.

    First just a detail: the version 7.0.0 is out of support already, because it's the 2023 release and support ended with the release of the 2025 version earlier this year. You should therefore target 8.2.0 (2025) or 7.6.0 (2024).

    Oracle Analytics is an enterprise solution, it isn't "just" a desktop installation. There would OAD that is a desktop product, but it only has the data visualization part of the Oracle Analytics product family.

    If you thought about installing Oracle Analytics on your IBM AIX server, it will sadly not be possible. Oracle Analytics only support linux or Windows, not AIX anymore (AIX support stopped many years ago).

    If all you need to do is to develop Publisher reports (templates), assuming you have already Publisher installed somewhere, don't you just need the Publisher client?

    Well, I'm not really sure about what kind of solution you have in mind, and what your question exactly is, what product you would like to have (Oracle Analytics Server, Oracle Analytics Publisher or something else).

    @Gianni Ceresa thanks for your support. My basic requirement is to convert rtf templates using BI analytics so for larger report output file size could be decreased using .xlsx current BIP version 12.214.00.000 does not support this.
