Hi,

In my laptop the old office had BIP Desktop 32bit.
Then with an update, the Add-on seemed to be disabled. I decided to remove and reinstall.

I noticed the new office 365 had 64 bit. But now when it starts to install I get the message :"Please uninstall the current version using Add or Remove Programs from the Control Panel."

The problem is that in the Control panel there are no options to remove. I tried to check some KMs to clean registry or delete folders but none of this helped.
Is there any utility to clean/remove the old version?

Thanks,

Priscila

    Hi Priscilla,

To correctly Uninstall BI Publisher Template Builder

Uninstall - Uninstall all BI Publisher Desktop Template Builder versions 32-bit and 64-bit from your local machine by using the Uninstaller from Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.

File Deletions - Manual Deletion for Old leftover Files related to old 32bit and/or 64bit BI Template Builder installation.

Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstaller.

    Under C:/Program Files/Oracle/BI Publisher and/or C:/Program Files(x86)/Oracle/BI Publisher

Manually Delete All Files Related to the old 32bit and/or 64bit BI Template Builder installation.

Check Add-Ins in Word and make sure the 3 BI Publisher Desktop .dot files do not appear.

Delete them if they do. These files are from Template Builder 10g.

    TBCrosstab.dot

    TemplateBuilder.dot

    WordAnalyzer.dot

    The files will usually be here - C:\Documents and Settings\<user name><Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

Open Windows Explorer and go to "C:\WINDOWS\assembly" - Check to see if there are assemblies, which start with "TB" If present, remove them all.

Confirm that the BIP Toolbar Menu cannot be seen in Word Application if it still appears, please move Normal.dot to another directory and try again.

    Restart your System.

Window Registry Cleanup – Take a backup of your registry prior to making any changes and Search for Traces of the following and delete them. Reboot the System when done.

    32-bit BI Template Builder

    64-bit BI Template Builder

    tbaddin

Download and Install Software – Based on the BIT version of your Microsoft Office or Office 365 version i.e., 32-Bit or 64-Bit download and install the appropriate version of Template Builder from the following link: https://www.oracle.com/middleware/technologies/analytics-publisher/downloads.html

Follow the following KM article if needed - BI Publisher and Office 365 Certification (Doc ID 2329036.1)

NOTE: Office 365 is only certified to work starting with OAS/OAP 6.4

Notes for Installing and Un-Installing BI Publisher Desktop Template Builder Successfully (Doc ID 1917119.1)

  • Hi @Arif Lalji-Oracle

Thank you for your response but unfortunately already tried that. I don't see the option to remove program under Add/Remove Programs. Also no traces of BIP Desktop is seen in the machine.

I also tried to clear registry.

Downloaded the latest Oracle Analytics Publisher Desktop 8.2.0 for 64 bit Office on Windows and when attempting to install, get this error mentioned above.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks

    Priscila

I would uninstall Office and reinstall it as my last resort. I know this was not the answer you were looking for - sorry. :(
