What is the best way to get Semantic Models in Sync between environments?

We have some variances in our SMEs in between our lower environments. As you can imagine, this causes issues when attempting to bundle/move the SMEs to a new environment. What is the best practice for syncing up the SMEs between the environments because it does not seem to be as simple as deleting a step and recreating it.
