Enable Bursting and Scheduled Personalized Report Delivery within Oracle OTBI
Currently, Oracle OTBI (Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence) does not provide bursting or personalized report distribution capabilities.
Reports and dashboards created in OTBI can be viewed interactively or scheduled for static delivery to a list of users, but the same report output is sent to all recipients. This limitation prevents organizations from automatically distributing personalized, role-based OTBI outputs (e.g., each manager receiving only their team’s data) without manual intervention or the use of BI Publisher (BIP).
Enhance Oracle OTBI to include native bursting functionality, allowing users to:
- Define a bursting key (e.g., department, manager ID, employee ID) within OTBI analyses or dashboards.
- Automatically split report data based on that key.
- Deliver each personalized section to specific recipients (e.g., via email, Fusion Notifications, or external delivery options).
- Retain OTBI’s real-time data access and security model (so recipients only receive data they’re authorized to view).
Use Case: Automated Distribution of Manager-Level Workforce Dashboards
- Context: In Oracle Fusion HCM, HR Business Partners run an OTBI report called “Headcount and Attrition by Manager.”
- Current State: HR must export and manually filter this report for each manager, or rebuild the same report in BI Publisher to use bursting.
- Pain Point: Manual effort, time delays, and risk of sending incorrect data.
- Desired Enhancement:
- HR schedules the OTBI report once.
- The system automatically bursts the report by Manager ID.
- Each manager receives their personalized section via email or Fusion Notification, showing only their direct reports’ data, respecting role-based security.
