Project Execution Management - Operational Milestones
I am trying to report on operational milestones in FDI. I can see the execution tasks feeding into the DW_PROJECT_ELEMENT_D table. However, those same tasks do not seem to appear in the DW_PROJECT_PLAN_LINE_DETAIL_CF table. I'm assuming they do not feed in because they are operational, not transactional. They do not have any cost or revenue associated with them. I also do not see these non-transactional milestones showing in OTBI PPM subject areas either. I can build a BIP report to get the infromation I need such as Planned Start and End Dates and Actual Finish Dates, but I was hoping to use either FDI or OTBI. Has anyone else tried to report on these non-transactional tasks/operational milestones?

Yeah, you’re right — non-transactional tasks usually stop at
DW_PROJECT_ELEMENT_Dand don’t flow into FDI or OTBI since there’s no cost or revenue tied to them. From what I’ve seen, BIP is pretty much the only reliable way to report those operational milestones unless you add some kind of financial impact.Funny how systems ignore important non-billing steps — I see the same thing in other industries too, like bail bonds Clearwater, where operational milestones matter but don’t always show up in reports.

As per my understanding, operational (non-transactional) project tasks / milestones are NOT supported for reporting in OTBI or FDI as of 25D. Only financially relevant plan lines (cost/revenue enabled) are exposed to OTBI PPM subject areas and the FDI DW_PROJECT_PLAN_LINE_DETAIL_CF fact.
