Recycle Bin Feature for Recovering Deleted Analysis Reports
Description (Required):
Currently, there is no Recycle Bin or functionality to recover deleted analysis reports in the development environment of Oracle Analytics. If a report is accidentally deleted before being implemented in production, it cannot be restored—backups are only available in production and do not cover work-in-progress items in development. This leads to permanent loss of valuable work, requiring the analysis team to rebuild reports from scratch, which is inefficient and can cause significant delays and frustration. Introducing a Recycle Bin feature would provide a crucial safety net, enabling users to easily restore deleted reports and avoid unnecessary rework.
Use Case and Business Need (Required):
There is a strong business need to implement a Recycle Bin feature in Oracle Analytics, specifically for the development environment. This feature would temporarily store deleted analysis reports, allowing users to restore them within a configurable retention period. By enabling quick recovery of accidentally deleted reports, the Recycle Bin would:
- Minimize the risk of permanent data loss during report development.
- Improve productivity and efficiency for the analysis team.
- Reduce downtime and frustration caused by accidental deletions.
- Align Oracle Analytics with industry best practices for data management and user experience.
This enhancement would significantly support agile development and experimentation, ensuring that valuable work is protected throughout the report creation process.
