The current process for migrating Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) objects between development and production environments is entirely manual. Users must export and import files multiple times daily, which is time-consuming and prone to errors. This manual approach increases the risk of missed updates and requires significant effort to recreate files in different environments. An automated migration solution is needed to streamline this process, reduce operational inefficiencies, and ensure consistency across environments. 

Use Case and Business Need: 
Team regularly develops and update OTBI reports in a development environment. To make these updates available in production, they manually export OTBI objects from development and import them into production twice daily. Each migration session takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour, including the time to run and validate reports. The manual process often leads to missed updates, duplicated effort, and delays in delivering accurate business insights. 

Automating the migration of OTBI objects will: 

  • Significantly reduce the time and effort required for each migration, freeing up resources for higher-value tasks. 
  • Minimize the risk of human error and missed updates, ensuring that all changes are consistently applied across environments. 
  • Improve the reliability and timeliness of business reporting, supporting better decision-making.
