Currently administrators are able to view activity within the platform, such as SCHEMA and CATALOG creation COMPUTE, WORKSPACE_FILE updates etc, but are currently unable to export these audit logs.

Having functionality to export audit logs would significantly improve transparency, governance, and troubleshooting capabilities.

By allowing users (with appropriate permissions) to download logs (e.g., in CSV or JSON format), administrators could more easily review actions such as knowledge base creation, document uploads, configuration changes, and user access events.

This would be particularly beneficial for organizations with compliance, security, or operational monitoring requirements, as it enables teams to store, analyze, and integrate activity logs with external monitoring or SIEM tools.

Providing a simple “Download Audit Logs” option in the interface would therefore enhance platform governance, support auditing needs, and improve overall operational visibility.

    Hi Philip:
Thanks for this feedback! For the use-cases you mentioned, the existing capabilities of Filtering & Searching should help in narrowing down to the desired logs. Please let us know if we could do anything better there.
For any download related asks, we are reviewing carefully the security and compliance related expectations from different verticals. Some customers do not want PII details (e.g. Initiated by names) to be downloaded to local machines, unless they come with more advanced audit and security related capabilities.

Yes this functionality is needed for Admin user. This is needed for full compliance, auditing and conformity with various legal Acts

This will defintely be useful and time saving feature for admins. If product team is concerned about PII data, you can add a switch to exclude the PII data.

Thanks for the comment @Sujoy Chowdhury-Oracle and completely agree that the filters could help for this in narrowing down the desired logs, also understand possible security concerns with the logs.

One alternative option could be to curate an "audit workbench" (for administrators only / those with appropriate audit permissions) to present charts on key metrics relating to administration of the workbench, possibly driven by these logs e.g., :

    • number of compute instances created in the last 30 days
    • number of notebooks connected to a given compute

That could still provide useful outputs for Admins to consume, while managing some of the security considerations.
