Is it recommended to change my FDI production instance from Standalone to Integrated type?

I’m facing an issue where, after my FDI instance went down or lost connection with my Fusion applications, we re-established the connection with the help of an SR. However, my FDI instance is now set as Standalone, and the connection method is password-based. Before this, my PROD instance was integrated, so the connection method was OAuth.

Currently, I want to have my FDI PROD instance integrated again, but the only option I’ve found is to back it up, delete it, and recreate it as integrated.

Do you know if there is any other way to change the instance type from Standalone to Integrated?

Why is it recommended for FDI instances to be integrated? Is there any risk in keeping my production instance as Standalone?

Thank you for the question. No, you cannot change the instance type from Standalone to Integrated. Integrated is recommended because it utilizes OAuth-based authentication between FDI and Fusion Applications, with Fusion Application connection details derived from the Fusion environment. This makes the administration of the environment easier, and it makes troubleshooting data validation issues a little easier.

Standalone instances are a little more flexible and allows you to use a different tenancy and/or identity domain compared to your Fusion Applications instance. If you want to make the switch and your current Standalone instance is not too old and therefore heavily invested in, you should delete it and Provision a new instance to replace it. Of course, back up your customizations first.
