Currently, Oracle Analytics reporting requires users to leverage the Workforce Core (Assignments) subject area for assignment-related employee information and the Positions subject area for position management details. However, there is no seamless way to report across both subject areas within a single analysis.
Many organizations maintain a position-driven workforce structure where assignment records are directly linked to positions. Business users frequently require reports that combine assignment attributes (worker, assignment status, department, manager, legal employer, etc.) with position attributes (position code, position name, FTE, headcount, hiring status, position hierarchy, position occupancy, etc.).
Because these subject areas are separated, users face several challenges:
- Inability to create comprehensive workforce and position management reports in a single analysis.
- Need for custom BI semantic model extensions or external data modeling efforts.
- Increased report development time and maintenance overhead.
- Difficulty in developing position management dashboards, vacancy reports, workforce planning reports, and headcount analyses.
- Challenges in reconciling assignment-based workforce metrics with position-based organizational metrics.
- A cross subject area report is not user friendly and needs IT intervention (as we need to pull metrics and common dimensions from both subject areas)
Business Use Cases:
- Position Occupancy Reporting
- Display employee assignment details alongside assigned position information.
- Identify vacant and occupied positions within a single report.
- Workforce Planning
- Compare budgeted positions against filled assignments.
- Monitor position utilization and workforce gaps.
- Organizational Reporting
- Analyze employees by position hierarchy, job family, business unit, and department.
- Report on manager positions and incumbent relationships.
- Headcount and Vacancy Analytics
- Calculate filled, vacant, and frozen positions together with assignment data.
- Build executive dashboards without requiring custom subject area extensions.
Expected Enhancement:
A new consolidated workforce-position subject area, which will make positions and assignments related reports seamless and less complicated
