BRAIN: MAID (Maintenance of AI Data Center)
An AI data center depends on the health of the equipment supporting it. Temperature, vibration, pressure, rotational speed, and electrical current provide valuable signals about how that equipment is behaving.
I developed BRAIN - MAID, a predictive-maintenance POC using Oracle AI Data Platform (AIDP) and Oracle Analytics. It brings sensor history, machine behavior, and anomaly indicators into an interactive monitoring dashboard.
The objective is straightforward: help operations teams recognize unusual behavior early enough to investigate potential failures and plan maintenance.
The production architecture follows this flow:
Connected equipment → telemetry ingestion → AIDP processing and ML → curated monitoring data → Oracle Analytics Cloud
For live operation, telemetry can be ingested through supported streaming integrations and processed at defined intervals. AIDP supports Apache Spark Structured Streaming, including Kafka-compatible streams and OCI Streaming, providing a foundation for continuously arriving sensor data. Oracle documentation
The ML approach uses an autoencoder for each machine. This neural network learns to reconstruct normal combinations of the five sensor readings. When new readings differ substantially from learned behavior, reconstruction error increases. A separately calibrated threshold and repeated abnormal readings help identify patterns that deserve attention.
The dashboard connects this analysis to an operator’s workflow:
- Review temperature, vibration, pressure, RPM, and current trends.
- Compare each asset’s anomaly score against its threshold.
- Inspect the latest readings and machine status.
- Click an asset in the inventory to update its sensor charts while retaining the fleet overview.
For an OCI deployment, Oracle Analytics Cloud can connect directly to AIDP, accessing its catalog and curated tables. With ingestion, processing, and dashboard refresh configured, operators can view the latest processed telemetry. Oracle connection documentation
BRAIN demonstrates how a data pipeline, machine learning, and an interactive dashboard can support a practical maintenance decision: which machine needs attention, and what changed?
