Edit Box Dashboard Prompt without values

In a edit box dashboard prompt, if I enter no values and hit the Go button, is there any way to restrict the result set to show null or a default value?

e.g., If I have a dashboard prompt for state code and the report set gives me details of the state, if I do not enter any state code (leave the edit box empty), it returns information for all 50 states in the table. if the edit box for the prompt is empty, can me a null result in the report.
