IFS-21009 when starting iFS

Now have iFS installed but when using ifsstart (using default values) I'm getting and IFS-21009 error with the following in the log file.

IfsException in starting ServerManager; FATAL
oracle.ifs.common.IfsException: IFS-21009: Installation-time Login failure
Server Manager exiting.

Is this refering to the system/manager iFS login, or the ifssys user in the database, or who?

Your iFS schema is messed up. Did your configuration succeed? Have you run the iFS configuration assistant?

We have had reports that installing from the downloaded Oracle8i installation (and perhaps from other sources) may not put vbjorb.jar into $ORACLE_HOME/lib.

This will cause the iFS Configuration Assistant to fail, and leave the system in a state such as described here.

    We are still investigating.

Where did you install Oracle8i 8.1.6 from?

For more information on when vbjorb.jar gets installed and when it doesn't, see the other posting in this iFS Forum entitled "Cannot run ifsconfig".

This all makes sense as we got our 8.1.6 code from the download site and had to later retrieve the vbjorb.jar file. We will try rerunning the install with the vbjorb.jar file in place.

    Two things:

    1) We installed from CD and didn't have vbjorb.jar under $IFS_TOP/lib.

    2) Without vbjorb.jar in $IFS_TOP/lib, we were still able to start and use IFS without error. The only problems we had were in using JSP's that referenced beans that depended on vbjorb.jar.

vbjorb.jar is not installed in $IFS_TOP/lib. It must be in $ORACLE_HOME/lib. Make sure to put it there and then re-run the configuration assistant to recreate your schema ($ORACLE_HOME/ifs/bin/ifsconfig).
