ULTRA 5 / 10.
ANYONE BOOTING OFF EXTERNAL SCSI HARDDRIVE
I SURE COULD USE SOME HELP.
TRYING TO USE 4 BAY Arena EX3 Ultra 160 SCSI to IDE CDisk Array system CONFIGURED AS RAID LEVEL 1.

80 GB SEAGATE IDE DRIVES. I FORMATED DISK
SLICE 0 = ROOT 4 GB
SLICE 1 = SWAP 2 GB
SLICE 7 = USR 37 GB
SLICE 7 = EXPORT 35 GB
I HAVE READ ALL THE ISSUES WITH ULTRA 5s RUNNING SOLARIS 2.6
IDE 8 GB DRIVE ISSUES
PROM VER ISSUES WHERE THERE ARE LIMITS TO THE BOOT SLICE SIZE. ie...
PROM versions 1.0-2.6: 1GB
PROM versions 2.6-2.99: 2GB EXTERNAL
PROM versions >= 3.0: No practical limit.
I HAVE MOVED OUR SUN ULTRA 2s TO EXTERNAL SCSI ARENA RAID ARRRAYS, BUT THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT WITH ANY THING ON THE ULTRA 5, JUST TRYING TO HELP ONE OF OUR SISTER PLANTS GET A RAID ONE ON THEIR SERVER.
GREATFUL FOR ANY ADVICE.

    Fix or replace your keyboard.
It seems unable to output anything lowercase.
(You do realize that using 100% uppercase is considered to be shouting and rude?)

Also, there is no actual question in your post. You are forcing us to use our crystal ball mindreading tricks. If you have access to the disk(s) and can create filesystems, then there is no hardware "problem". Create an OBP alias for the external device and just boot to that alias.

Here is a link to the OBP 3.x Command Reference Manual 806-1377, at Docs.Sun.Com.
