Hello,

I need to replace a 12-24 Gbyte 4mm DDS-3 Tape Drive (DAT reader and writer) used with a ULTRA 5 SUN workstation.
Are the following equipment: HP StorageWorks DAT 72 external, Q1523B or HP DAT 40 Trade-Ready (C5685D) compatible with ULTRA 5 workstation ?

Thanks you for advice and response.

If you have a recent version of the OS it should work. Do the following-

    1. power both units off then connect the drive, power up the drive, then power up the Ultra into the NVRAM.

    2. At the OK prompt issue a probe scsi all command. The drive should show up during the probe.

    3. If it is there, then at the end of the probe do a "boot -r" to reconfigure the system and pick up the drive. If everything worked, when you login do "mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status" and you should see some information on the drive.

    Regards
