HsvDataSource.exe at 100% CPU Load

Hello,

we have the problem that one of our applications is consuming 100% of CPU Load and about 40 GB RAM.

It does not release memory until we kill that process.

if we watch in consolidation administration there is no running task (only done jobs).

Is it possible to determine which report/consolidation etc. is consuming these ressources?

HFM Version is 11.1.2.2.303

Thanks

Does task audit provide any useful insight?

    Hi there,

Can you please check the event log or the hfm system messages, there might be a warning or an information event which will guide you. Did you make any changes in the rules recently?

    Regards

    Thanos

  • Hi,

Task Audit did not provide any useful infos. Looked like all tasks were done.

The System messages did not show any warnings before the problem occurred.

I don't know if any user changed rules. But the problem already occured a few times in the past.

The problem is that there are working multiple users at the same time and if we detect the problem the CPU is already at 100% and RAM is increasing.

So it is hard to find the exact trigger for this in the logs.

But i found the following entry :

    <Reportname> - Started

    <Reportname> - Analyzing data

    AND NO

    <Reportname> - Report(s) finished.

So this should be the problem or?

Another strange thing is, although i set in registry: NumConsolidationThreads=2

and the setting is successfully loaded at startup, it consumes 99% (we have 4 cores).

Shouldn't it be limited on 50% then? Or can we conclude that the reason is not a consolidations because they should be limited?

    Hi there,

Having a report with a vague POV can be a reason of using 100% of CPU.

Have you tested the report in QA to see if you get similar problem?

    Regards

    Thanos

  • Hi,

not yet because sometimes the report finishes without problems.

we have to determine the chosen POV. Then we will try it in QA and i will update the thread if this was the reason.

    Thanks so far

I had a similar issue in the past when I was testing a report and selecting all parent members from all hierarchies. ...

    Hello,

Have you narrowed down to a particular application.

Have you waited to see what happened eventually?

If you suspect rules is the issue, try loading a blank rule.

Is this classic or EPMA application, migrated or newly created app?

    Thank you,

    Charles Babu J

  • Hi,

Have you narrowed down to a particular application.

    Yes, always the same application

Have you waited to see what happened eventually?

yes waited several hours and looked in consolidation administration for running tasks but all task were done.

Only suspicious entry was in system messages where there was an entry "analyzing data" without "reports finished"

If you suspect rules is the issue, try loading a blank rule.

i suspect its the mentioned report, but until now the error did not occured again

Is this classic or EPMA application, migrated or newly created app?

    migrated from 11.1.1.3

Does the report rely on heavy calculations?

If so, any way these calculations can be moved to rules?
