Hi All,

We have a design requirement of one Account member ("Currency Type") which is a text datatype and values (ex: (USD (USA), JPY (Japanese Yen)) will be entered by the users.

Can we input and load the "Currency Type" account member as text and retrieve these values in smart view and we are on Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.2 version.

Can somebody please quickly suggest on this.

Regards,

Stally.

    Hello Stally,

17 dimensions is already too much in my opinion. Especially for a planning application.

You might want to combine dimensions like like Version and Currency (Acutal_Local, Actual_USD, Budget Local, Budget_USD, ...) and see if there are 1:1 relationships within the data or business logic (A1 is always linked to P002). Then use attribute dimensions and parallel hierarchies to get needed views. And say "no" to the customer in their best interest.

    Hello Stally,

    technically that should be possible.

What is the background of not using a dimension and the proper currency descriptions. Now you might up with USDollar and USD and U S D etc.

Then a smartlist would maybe even be better than free text.

    Hi Philip,

We have already 17 dimensions and if we specify again another dimension only for the currency type description then we thought there might be performance problems.

I think Smartlist would be better option.

    Thankyou.
