UCM Store File in 2 Location So That Double The Size

Dear All,

I'm implementing Oracle WebCenter Content 11g. I just realize that UCM will store the file on 2 folder, the vault and weblayout. Looks like one used for the web location link while the other for native file link. This become a problem when I have 300GB file, this will cause the system take 600GB storage.

Actually what is the purpose of storing the file into to place which will double the size? Is there any workaround so that OWC only store in 1 location?

Best Regards

    Hello,

You can move your storage to storage system like SAN or NAS. Also have option to move your content to database.

Basically you can separate out your storage by using particular settings in intradoc.cfg

    Please refer: https://blogs.oracle.com/kyle/entry/webcenter_content_shared_folders_for

    Thanks

The easiest thing it to define your storage as webless - web-viewable files (weblayout) won't be created.

The purpose of web-viewable files is to give users ability to view the content (its web-viewable conversion) directly from the browser - without necessity to open the native files in a desktop application. For instance, a MS Word document, or a CAD, both can be converted as PDFs.

This is covered in the documentation. Have you reviewed section 12 of the admin guide?

    Hi All,

Thanks for the respond. Regarding the purpose of web viewable file which are MS Word or CAD file converted to PDF, this functionality is using IBR, right?

Is there any workaround to disable the the web-viewable files? And if the web viewable is disable, does the pdf watermark component could be work for the native file which format is pdf?

    Best Regards

Yes, you can use the webless storage mechanism from the File store provider and also set IndexVaultFile=true for indexing purpose so that the native files are used for indexing .

Watermarking , Yes , I think it should work but have not tested it . You can run a test for a simple case and provide the results here for everyone to refer .

    Thanks,

    Srinath
