Unable to start WLS_DISCO after weblogic patch

I thought I would apply the latest psu to weblogic for Discoverer 11G, unfortunately since applying the patch I am unable to restart the Discoverer domain WLS_DISCO.

Is there a post patch step that is required to make Discoverer work again? Any useful links to notes for simpletons are most welcome.

    The Discoverer component was certified against WebLogic Server (WLS) release 10.3.6.0.  Premier support ended for Discoverer in June of 2014 (see Note 1634827.1).  Any software update released after June of 2014 has not specifically been certified or tested.  Some WLS patches cause problems for Discoverer.  One known problem starting Discoverer from EM is documented in Note 1335764.1.
