Hi,

Our application runs Coherence 12.2.1.2.0, and occasionally some of our nodes will log this types of errors:

2017-08-21 18:04:38,730 [[email protected] 12.2.1.2.0] ERROR Coherence - 2017-08-21 18:04:38.730/1964749.464 Oracle Coherence GE 12.2.1.2.0 <Error> (thread=Proxy:ExtendTcpProxyService, member=32): Detected soft timeout of {WrapperGuardable Guard{Daemon=Proxy:ExtendTcpProxyService:TcpAcceptorWorker:1} Service=ProxyService{Name=ExtendTcpProxyService, State=(SERVICE_STARTED), Id=4, OldestMemberId=30}}

We had to restart this node to make the error go away.

Can someone please shed any light what this error might suggest and how to avoid it? Thanks very much.

Zyd.

    The same issue occurred for a second time in our system after about 2 weeks. The affected node didn't seem to experience much memory problem prior to the issue.

    Would be highly appreciated if someone could help advise what could have caused this error? Thanks very much in advance!

    Hi Zyd,

    This would be triggered by one of our server side threads not responding for a long period of time.  When this happens we attempt to recover it by interrupt, and if that fails we'll ultimately terminate the thread and replace it with a new one.  You should not need to take manual action such as a node restart in order to correct things.  Also if the thread stays stuck long enough that we need to terminate it we'll also log a thread dump so we can identify where it was stuck, can you check your logs to see if there are any corresponding thread dumps as that would be quite helpful.  Also while we can continue this discussion here, you will likely receive quicker support if you file an SR.

    thanks,

    Mark
