WCC 11g to 12C Migration / Up gradation ?

Hi All,

One of my client want to move from WCC (11g)11.1.1.8 to (12c) 12.2.1.3.

I need your experties suggestion, shall i recommend Migration / Upgradation.

If possible please share any document as well.

I would say instead of upgrade if you can set up a fresh 12C environment and the migrate your configuration and content to new instance. It will be more clean and less error prone. Also you will have chances to get rid your unused configurations and customization.

You should be able to find upgrade document on Oracle web site.

Choosing between upgrade or migration will depend upon your current situation. You have to list down what are all the pros and cons between these two options. Let's say you don't have to upgrade your physical OS server box for the next few years then you can choose a in-place upgrade option instead of migration or you are planning to revisit the security model for contents to re-classify them again, In this case choose migration approach instead of upgrade.

Since you are on the client side you should be having more visibility of what plans do they have, so put together some scenarios like this and take a call between upgrade or migration.

As Vikram mentioned above I would also recommend a migration approach.
