Discoverer Replacement Options

We use Discoverer to provide many of our Oracle EBS reports. However, Oracle has announced that it is withdrawing support for Discoverer and so we are seeking an alternative solution. The alternative solution should:
- Understand the relationships between the information held in out EBS v12 instance i.e. should understand how to drill-down from say a GL Trial Balance report to the AR transactions
- Integrate with Oracle R12 security
- Provide audit trail of user access to reports
- Provide off-the-shelf reports for common scenarios
- Provide ad-hoc reporting capability for expert users
- Allow report templates to be created by expert users and shared with others
- Allow reports to be scheduled for unattended execution
What solution options should we consider?

Customers are being directed to Oracle BI Enterprise Edition (OBIEE). However, it is best to discuss your site needs with your Oracle Salesperson.

Despite the official line from Oracle, OBIEE is completely different from Discoverer. For what most organizations use Discoverer for - producing large data extracts for offline manipulation in Excel etc - OBIEE is inefficient, difficult to extend, and geared towards data warehouse solutions (of course it can query live data, however it works a lot better with an OLAP environment).
Ultimately - there is no replacement. Oracle want companies to go OBIEE - although they'll probably try and push BICS now because...well... it's Cloud.

Discoverer is an Ad Hoc query tool. It was never designed to be a Data Extraction tool. The feature of export to other formats was added to assist customers to review data offline. Not to populate another data storage system (Excel, etc.). Reports in Discoverer are meant to be "humanly consumable". If the worksheet (report) returns more data than a human can read, it is not being used as designed.
OBIEE is more complex and not as simple as Discoverer; however, too functions as an Ad Hoc query tool. There are other tools available. Please discuss with your Oracle Salesperson the options.

Hello,
I thought I'd might throw a spanner in the works and recommend considering Oracle Application Express with the packaged application called Data Reporter. It is 100% free with your Oracle Database and develops within your Web Browser

You should look at Excel4apps - Reports Wand and GL Wand as not only a replacement for Discoverer but even more flexibility with all reporting being done within excel. All your requirements listed above can be met with Excel4apps. Let me know if you would like more information?
