Converting ratios to Dynamic in Rules

Hi All,

Are there any issues converting bunch of ratios calculations from Sub Calculate to Dynamic in rules? I know there will be some effect on Smart View retrieval but the performance improvement we are seeing after those calcs outweighs the retrieval issue. One additional change we are doing is, we are adding bunch of staging accounts for these ratios as the ratios take values from prior months.

Thank you all

Mikkis

Sub Dynamic mainly uses HS.Dynamic which only works with Dynamic type accounts.

The only valid dimensions on the left side of HS.Dynamic are Account and View. No other dimension can be specified on the left. You can use Account/ICP/Customs on the right.

You cannot use conditions in Sub Dynamic.

You cannot read from outside the current Entity/Period/Year/Scenario/Value, so none of these dimensions can be referenced in Sub Dynamic.

You can have different formulas for each View: one for Periodic, another for QTD, and another for YTD, for example.

Dynamic results are not stored and therefore cannot be referred to by any other rule.

Dynamic accounts can only be base accounts.

Avoid trying to extract data for Dynamic accounts since this can generate a lot of data and slow the extract process.

When used appropriately, this is a great feature of HFM and really helps performance, but make sure you follow the above guidance.

    Chris,

Thank you very much. Seems like there aren't any major issues as long as above conditions are met.
