HFM deployment stuck at 20%

We are on HFM and since recently, whenever we proceed with an HFM deployment it gets stuck at 20%. This phenomenon occurs adhocly. Restarting the HFM services doesn't help. So we end up restarting all the relevant servers. Once a restart is done, deployments go through effortlessly without any errors and do so for multiple times. But then again, it gets stuck. This started happening since last month. Never had this issue previously.

Checked the logs and couldn't find any reference to any errors whatsoever.

The web logic timeout is set to 3600 as well as the interval to 3600.

This environment has EPMA, plannning and HFM.

The latest incident happened over the weekend where it was simply one user using the system. Therefore I think it's safe to assume that the number of users or the concurrent load isn't a cause.

Would appreciate anyone's help.

Consider validating setting for tuning parameters for your web servers, also the Application DB Maintenance

Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) Performance Tuning Guide Fusion Edition (Doc ID 1083460.1)

Is this failing only for one application or multiples?

What patch level are you in for EPMA?

Did you see epma and HsvEventlog.log? Any errors?

Can you run the diagnostics b y right clicking on the application in the application library and run all the tasks. Does it fail for any specific tasks?

Also check the HFM_Errorlog, app_TASK_AUDIT and app_DATA_AUDIT and see if these tables contains huge records. If yes, you need to truncate the records and validate the issue again.

    Hi Suresh,

    EPMA patch level is

No errors noted on any of the logs.

Occurs only on one application, though there are other applications as well.

    DATA AUDIT is turned off

TASK AUDIT table has 703744 rows.

the diagnostics failed on the two below.

-Deployed but classic application in prod...

-Deployed status but not in product

I think we are able to ignore the above two failures.

Try truncating the records from the Task Audit table. It is huge in size as does not meet the requirement.

Were there any specific changes made to the application before the issue arises? If yes, can you go back and use the old metadata(ads) file and try to deploy the application again.

You can also try to deploy the same application as Duplicate and test the behavior.

Is it possible that there are consolidations running at the time you deploy application?  If there are consolidations running, application deployment will be delayed until the consolidation is completed.

There were no consolidations running at that time

There were metadata changes done and it is for this reason that the deployment was carried out. And thus the problem. The maintenance is carried out by the client itself. Metadata changes have been done on previous occasions as well, but the problem was never encountered. It's strange that it started to happen from quite recently.

So if you can cross check and see what metadata changes were done - it might help you diagnose the problem.

Properties play a big role .
