Hi,

Anyone have experienced with index rebuild/reorganize of HFM Database?

EPM version: HFM 11.1.2.4

Database version: Microsoft SQL Server 2012

Is it safe to do the re-indexing exercise?

Read that rebuild and reorganize of indexes can slightly improve performance.

Thanks!

    Hi,

This is one of the tuning for DB as per the admin/tuning guide for 11.1.2.4 - https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E57185_01/OHFMA/OHFMA.pdf

I would advise you to run the index rebuild if you sees any issues in the application after the migration or restoration of the DB from one environment to another. You need to first determine if you are running into any potential issues in HFM application that need a requirement of rebuilding the indexes.

However I don't see running it against the database would have any issues but ensure you should not do this if application is up and running.

As referred earlier by Abdul, you can take a look into section "Index Fragmentation" in the tuning guide to understand this better.

Just fyi...please take a look into publish article Doc ID 2236402.1- FMIndexUpdateUtility For HFM 11.1.2.4. So you need to involve your DBA to perform this job, if required.
