BPM Workspace from PAM not work

Tommy301 Member Posts: 33 Red Ribbon
Hello allI have given task to install and test BPM suite 12.2.0.3 as we plan to buy it from next year. However, I experienced one (for now) unabridged problem.I install FMW infrastructure and SOA suite to Oracle Linux 7.5 (Java 1.8.0.152), setup WebLogic and everything work fine. I can work ether in browser or in jDeveloper
to create process. When I install BPM suite to Windows 7 x64/Oracle Linux 7.5 x64 with any version of java (8.51, 8.131, 8.152, 9.x, 10.x...) I experience error when try to create workspace from PAM into jDeveloper. This feature work fine if I start jDeveloper on server machine and workspace from soa_cluster (there are 2 soa_servers spread on 2 machines) may be imported well.Firstly I tried BPM 12.2.1.1 but as I press "Create Workspace from PAM" I got error (BPM suite is patched with all available patches) - not even able to see workspaces on server. I receive:

However, when I type to add workspace, it is created on server....
Then I installed BPM 12.2.1.3, patch it with all available patches. I am able to see available workspaces, also, able to see processes in workspace, bun as soon I want to import  process in my project, I receive exceptions.

I have no glue what to set, config or install next to fix it.... I did everything by book. Same exceptions come on Windows 7 x64 as well as Linux 7.5 x64 (Java JDK,JRE is x64 also)....
It smell like java classpath problem, but I googled few days about PAM connection exception, oracle.bpm.fusion.bac, BACException, etc.... no success....

Could anyone help? Thanks.

    HI

I found problem, and now everything work well....

The problem was in Linux firewall... (shame on me).... even I put my network in trusted zone, firewall blocked traffic on port 7326.

The Port may be different for  different system. Should be checked in System MBean (EM/System MBean Browser/Application defined Mbeans/ oracle.bpm.bac.server.mbeans.metadata/Server<server_name>/BacNode/<server_name>)

After I setup firewall with port 7326 work like charm...

    Hi Tommy,

First off: you should always use the exact same version of BPM Quickstart as the server side installation. Secondly, SOA Suite, BPM Suite, but also the SOABPM QuickStarts are only certified for Java 8. Choose preferably the latest version. For instance 1.8 U 181.

Regarding your problem, do you have the two soa_servers on the same host? There is a peculiar issue with PAM regarding a multinode cluster on the same host. We encountered it last year and it is patched with patch 26775572 in 12.2.2.1.2. You might have run into the same issue, but you should request a one-off for 12.2.1.3.

    Regards,
    Martien

Both, BPM on local computer and weblogic server are 12.2.1.3.

Firstly I tried with java 1.8.0.53 which is firstly declared in Oracle Certification Matrix.... after than I installed other versions, last installed are 9 and 10...

One soa_server is on 1st machine, and second soa_server on 2nd machine... so this should not be a problem....

Currently on server Java is 1.8.0.151 x64

    on local machine 1.8.0.181 x64

I don't think it is a Java issue, provided that you use 1.8 (Java 9 and 10 aren't supported and can cause issues).

    Your logs show:

Caused by: BPM-0: No repository endpoint available for connection....WARNING: Could not connect to repository endpoint: weblogic02.loc.com:7326  java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out

So some how your PAM Servers (BAC Node) won't start properly. Maybe you could check out this article:https://blog.darwin-it.nl/2017/04/bpm-bac-subversion-server-refusing.html Validate the properties in the System MBean browser and then check if the ports that are configured are actually are active.

Maybe check the server and diagnostic logs of both soa-servers on startup errors on bpm components. Look for BAC Node for instance.

But maybe you should create an SR for it.

    Regards,
    Martien

The first exception you encounter might also be the same as this one: https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?id=2033858.1

It states: 'The issue is caused by the following setup: the patch level on the machine where JDeveloper was installed was not the same with the patch level where the bpm server was running

This is explained in the following bug:
Bug 21391569  - PAM Issue in JDev after installing Patch 20482366
    '

    Solution:

To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:

    1. Update the /etc/hosts file with the address of the machine where the runtime bpm server is installed ( add ip_address machine_name in /etc/hosts file)

    2. Apply same patch to Oracle home where SOA server is installed and where Jdeveloper is installed.

    3. Restart JDev with -clean option e.g. <Oracle_Home>/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/jdev -clean

    4. Retest the issue.

    5. Migrate the solution as appropriate to other environments.

For the second issue (connection error) you might need to create an SR with support.oracle.com. Investigate the logs for other startup errors.

    Regards,

    Martien

    Dear Mr Martien

Thank you for your time. I appropriate it.

Unfortunately I still can't request SR to Oracle because we plan to buy BPM suite from next year... I have to prepare and test everything... so we have no licenses yet.

I found post about updating hosts file in /etc... already done...

Now I have to clean everything, and try to start again.... however... I can't figure out how is possible to get same error on both platform (windows & linux)....
this lead me to conclusion something wrong with server... but when start jDeveloper on server.... everything work fine....

Once again, thank you for your time

    Hi Tom,

    You're welcome.

But I don't know what you actually mean with 'but when start jDeveloper on server'. Do you install BPM QuickStart on the host running the BPM Suite server? One of the machines? And then it works, but not when you use a local BPM QuickStart to connect to the remote BPM Suite server?

In that case you could suffer from a firewall or network subnet issue.

To be sure: when you say JDeveloper, I hope you mean BPM QuickStart?

I understand that you do not have support licences yet. What you try to accomplish should work. But we have seen (as posted in my article) a few issues caused by bugs that we ran into due to our interpretation of the Enterprise Deployment guide. Your particular issue I haven't seen yet.

I should have more info or insight to tackle that.

    Regards,
    Martien

    Dear Mr Martien

On my WebLogic server there is also jDeveloper inside SOA_suite... (hm......I'm not sure is this correct package?)

Are quick start package same for desktop and server... this is not clear to me...

After this discussion something come out to my mind.... my boos gave me a packages... but

    fmw_12.2.1.3.0_bpmqs_Disk1_1of2.zip and

    fmw_12.2.1.3.0_bpmqs_Disk1_2of2.zip....

now I check downloads and find names:

    fmw_12.2.1.3.0_soaqs_Disk1_1of2.zip and

    fmw_12.2.1.3.0_soaqs_Disk1_2of2.zip

This does not look as same packages!? Am I right?

I'm REALLY thankful to you... you find my problem.....(I'll never trust my boos any more)

You have the SOA Suite installation that should be installed in a FMW Infrastructure home and is server side.

For development there is indeed the combination fmw_12.2.1.3.0_bpmqs_Disk1_1of2.zip and fmw_12.2.1.3.0_bpmqs_Disk1_2of2.zip. This is one install divided into two zips and is the BPM QuickStart. This is a special JDeveloper distribution that includes BPM Suite, SOA Suite (since BPM is ontop of SOA) and OSB.

The fmw_12.2.1.3.0_soaqs_Disk1_1of2.zip and fmw_12.2.1.3.0_soaqs_Disk1_2of2.zip distribution, is actually the same, except for BPM so only soasuite + osb. Otherway around said: bpm qs is actually soa qs, but including bpm suite.

So the bpm quickstart is to  be installed on your developer laptop/computer.

    Martien
