Hi,
When you meen a Portal you mean a Framework Portal Application or are you using Portal Server?
In the case you are in Framework Portal 11g you need to:
- Move your Framework Portal 11g to Portal Server (WebCenter Portal/Spaces) 11g.
- Then upgrade from Portal / Spaces 11g to 12c.
All are specified in the link I provided, if you need further support or doubts in some of the steps let us know, but you need to read it and have a full understanding of the steps you need to perform.
Kind regards.

Hi,
As mentioned by Daniel If you are upgrading framework applications you need to Move your Framework Portal 11g to Portal Server (WebCenter Portal/Spaces) 11g.
- Then upgrade from Portal / Spaces 11g to 12c.
Below document clearly mentions about the upgrade steps(in flow chart) and we recommend you to review the same.

Hi,
We have installed the WCP 12c, where we have WC_Portal as managed server.
We have exported the portal application from WCP 11g (11.1.1.9) and tried importing the ".par" file to WCP 12c, but it failed and gave the error that old version cannot be imported.
Now, after going through the link provided by you
https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/11119/wcp/admin/wcadm_custapp_migration.htm#A1016188044
we understood we need to do the below steps:
1. Upgrade from 11.1.1.9 to the latest patch 11.1.1.9x
2. Create a new portal project.
3. Migrate existing Framework application to a newly created WebCenter portal project (which is migrating portal application from 11g to 12c using migrateFrameworkApplicationtoWebCenter WLST command).
4. Export the newly created project and import it in 12c environment.
Kindly let us know if we are on the right track.
Thanks!

Hi, We have installed 11.1.1.8 in our local VM. We have exported the '.par' file from the existing system and imported the '.par' file to our local environment. As we have custom portlet which needs to be consumed within the Portal. We have deployed the '.ear' file through weblogic console and registered the wsdl through Weblogic EM. But, when we try to open the Portlet from the spaces/portal, it gives the "Portlet Consumer Error". Could you please provide some insight here.

We have upgraded and migrated from 11g to 12c as mentioned in the document. We have followed all the steps of migration.
But, after migration and upgrade of 12c, our portal is not working, It gives the internal error page on click of a portal. In log file of Spaces, there is no error. We have also raised the SR but waiting for the satisfactory answer.
Thanks!

Hello,
It should appear something in the -diagnostic.log of your WebCenter Portal Managed Servers.
Check it and share here the stack trace.
Kind regards.
