Hi,

I am using Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c. I have created an incident rule to get email if database goes down.

But, it send me frequently database down alert and immediately alert clear email, where

Severity=Fatal

Root Cause Analysis Status=Neither Cause Nor Symptom

Causal analysis result=Neither a cause nor a symptom

This is happening for OMS database and another database I have registered to monitor. Both OMS and other database is Multi-tenant database.

OMS Database Version: 18.3.0.0.0

Other Database Version: 12.2.0.1.0

Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control OMS 13c Release 3

Though there is a option to skip Fatal Severity in the incident rule, But I was trying to find the root cause.

Thank You.

    Hi,

    2 Things to be validated here.

    1. If this is happening for even single instance database, then verify if the DBSNMP user for that DB is locked.

    SQL> select username , account_status from dba_users where username='DBSNMP';

    2. If this is happening only for the multi-tenant databases like PDBs, then we have couple of known bugs:

    Bug 28665258 - "Intermittent PDB target down alerts"

    &

    Bug 25870135 - "CDB/PDB:SLD:EM:EFNG:AFTER DISCOVERY ISTORE PDB SHOWING DOWN IN EM critical"

    Following patches should fix this issue:

    Patch 29465903: "enterprise manager for oms plugins 13.3.1.0.190331"

    Patch 29404815: "EM-AGENT Bundle Patch 13.3.0.0.190331"

    Patch 29046863: "EM DB Plugin Bundle Patch 13.3.1.0.181231 (Agent Discovery)"

    Patch 29389787: "EM DB Plugin Bundle Patch 13.3.1.0.190228 (Agent Monitoring)"

    Note: You can apply the latest patches as well.

    Best Regards,

    Venkat
