OVMAPI_2005E refresh fails - filesystem.size.mismatch

I am trying to resize my OVM repo, but it has gotten out of sync with the physical disks.  The physical disk on my Equallogic SAN is currently 3TB and the Shared File System knows it.  But the underlying physical disk thinks it is only 2TB.  When I try to refresh the physical disk to get the size to match, it gives me "filesystem.size.mismatch" and won't update.

Of course, this is a production system which I don't want to shut down.

I have acknowledged all notices on the shared file system.

    Hi,

Please follow below steps to extend repository size:

Refer: How to Extend a Repository Size in Oracle VM 3.3.x/3.4.x (Doc ID 2308439.1)

Unfortunately, Step 2 fails with the error I listed above.   Here are the full details:

OVMAPI_2005E "[LocalFileSystemDbImpl] 0004fb000005000098d4263043d23da4<353> (fs on EQLOGIC (2))" contains a component "0004fb000005000098d4263043d23da4" in error. Hi,

    Execute below steps:
In the GUI, select the "Storage" Tab, and select "Shared File Systems" of the repository currently you are trying to extend

In the right pane, select the filesystem and press the events button (between the "X' and the "?" button).

Then acknowledge the event (or acknowledge all) and refresh the repository.

    Regards,
    Chandana

And yes, that's what I did in Shared File Systems - acknowledged the Critical error about the file system size.  I still get the same error:

After acknowledging, I still get this same error.

And, now I also see this:

OVMRU_007027E Unmanaged iSCSI Storage Array - A physical disk on an unmanaged storage array cannot be refreshed. [Mon Apr 20 15:33:04 EDT 2020]

I have also tried refreshing the Repository (as it says in your second post), but I get the OVMAPI_2005E error (filesystem.size.mismatch).

    Catch 22! :-/

    Hi,

On host server run below command
    #rescan-scsi-bus.sh

Then in GUI, go to 'Server& VM tab' -> select the one of the host server -> In perspective drop down select physical disk -> select the changed physical disk -> try to refresh.

If it fails, try to refresh the repository once, see whether it is updated with newer size value, in case if it throws errors, let us know.,

    Regards,

    Chandana

By the way, thanks so much for the help! :-)

So, I ran rescan-scsi-bus.sh on both my OVM servers.  I went into Servers and VMs, chose one of the machines, chose Physical Disks, chose the device and clicked Refresh.  Got the same error.  Weht to the other OVM server and tried it there too.  Got the same error.

Went to Repositories and tried to refresh.  Got the same error.

Interestingly, both OVM Servers see the current size of the disk if I do a "df -h" on them.

    Hi,

    • You must access the shell of the Oracle VM Manager host, either directly or over SSH.
    • Change user to the 'oracle' user, using su.
      # su - oracle

touch a file called /tmp/.resyncUI as the oracle user.

    $ touch /tmp/.resyncUI
    • Restart the Oracle VM Manager service as root:
      # service ovmm restart

    Regards,
    Chandana
