backup and purge archivelog during restore

Hello Team,
good morning.
I would like to know whether it is possible to backup and purge archivelogs on primary during restore of backup on standby DB? WIll replication work after restore - after enabling log_archive_dest_state_n

I dont think it is possible because after restore u need archive log to make data consistent.
