different private ip for both node of rac

why there is different series of private ip for nodes of Oracle rac. Suppose we have two node cluster rac database which is rac1 and rac2. So private ip for rac1 and rac 2 is 10.10.10.31 and 10.10.10.32 respectively. So my question is that why it is need of two privatte ip for two node?
