I am unable to create a new compute instance (using free tier) as the dashboard shows this error: No shapes are available.

Same problem here, I see no "always free" shapes options when I create a VM even though the docs say that there should be two free options to choose: https://docs.oracle.com/en-us/iaas/Content/FreeTier/freetier_topic-Always_Free_Resources.htm#compute

I`ve seen similar questions in other forums without a a valid solution, sadly, but I think that the problem is related to the region choosed, that might not have these shapes options available (of course there was no warning about this in the sign up process and the Region appeared as "valid for always free version" in the docs, wich seems to be not true).

As fair as I know, there is no way to change the home Region for a free account and you can't either delete your account, so I see no way to fix this than moving to a more serious provider. Hope I'm wrong.

I chose UK region when I created my initial account, so I suppose this region is not in the always free tier.

Which region would work then?

I don't think it has anything to do with "Regions". I had everything working fine, with choice of many shapes until my system crashed. Now, trying to start a new Instance I get the message that there are no shapes available. There is no way to get in touch with tech support other than this forum, which seems to be ignored by them.
