Trying to run yum update on OL 6.10 I'm getting these errors.

I followed this document 2495991.1 to set sslverify=false but still get the same error.

yum update

Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit, security, ulninfo

Where is this Oracle Linux 6.10 instance running? (VM, bare metal, cloud)?

MOS 2495991.1 discusses this solution if an internal proxy is involved. Does your network environment include a network proxy?

I just tested my Oracle Linux 6.10 instance, running in VirtualBox, on my home network (no proxy, typical home network, NAT home router.) I was able to run 'yum clean all', 'yum repolist', and 'yum list installed' without any errors.

It sounds like your Oracle Linux 6.10 instance might not have an active network connection.

Check /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts, look for an entry 'ifcfg-xxx'. In my setup it is ifcfg-eth0, yours might be different.

Edit that file and look for an entry ONBOOT. If you want that ethernet device to automatically be activated after booting, set ONBOOT=yes

If you change that setting, reboot then make sure that network is working (maybe 'ping' something), then retry your yum commands.

    Hi David,

I'm running OL6 on bare metal.

We are using a cooperate proxy which I've entered our http_proxy and my proxy_username and proxy_password, but still unable to yum update.

Tested with wget command to see if I could reach yum.oracle.com. Looks like i'm able to connect via port 80, but then it hangs on port 443.
