Dyndns not updating or taking a long time?

I have been using dydns updater for quite some time, lately is has been working poorly. Either it takes months to update the ip address or it takes me to do it manually. I use it for Dynamic internet connections on my security NVR customers. Constant complaints about not being able to reach the nvr remotly. When i check the issue out, its always because of the dyn service not updating the new WAN ip address. If i have a router that has DYN support, i use that if not i put the information in the NVR under ddns support . Any help would be nice.
