Best practice for transitioning from password to TSIG/client keys

I have a long standing account with DYN and would like to make the move to TSIG tokens. Currently my account settings show Updater Client Key status as : Not configured under the Account settings page. When I go to generate the key it warns that doing so would kill off previous keys. Would that also invalidate the DYNDNS password I have deployed on DYNDNS update clients on routers? Also is there a best practices document I can follow for making the transition? Thank you for your time.
