Passing BASIC authentication in WSRP

I'm trying to do a very simple WSRP test in WebLogic Portal. I have two portal web applications in different domains, where one is a WSRP producer and the other is a WSRP consumer. The producer has another web application that contains images that are protected via BASIC authentication. What I want to do is have a portlet on the producer that shows one of these images, that can be used as a remote portlet for the consumer. So, in other words, I want the consumer to be able to see that image seamlessly, without having to authenticate again on that remote server.

However, the consumer only sees a broken image, and the header that is returned from the response says 'Unauthorized'. Here is what the producer's portlet looks like:

<img src="<render:resourceUrl path='/otherWebApp/otherImage.gif'/>">

Is there something else that I should be doing so that the producer can use the consumer's basic authentication to authenticate with this other web app, and correctly render this URL? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Login to the producer wls console and set
    Security Realms -> myrealm -> Providers -> SAMLIdentityAsserter -> Management -> ap_00001: ALLOW VIRTUAL USERS = TRUE

    After that, when the user access the consumer portal, a authentication window popup, type in the username, passwd that exist on producer.

    Great, thanks! I'll give that a shot. So, is there no way to automatically pass the user's basic authentication from the consumer through to the producer, so that the user doesn't have to see another authentication window pop up?
