Hyperion Interactive Reporting: Drill-Through from Pivot to Pivot

Hello,

is it possible to define a drill-through from one pivot table to another?

Taking up/collecting filter values is clear to me (by script), but how to give these values to the other pivot table - can a crosstab be (fully) controlled by a script using pre-collected (filter-)values?

Or can a drilling be designed working within the very same pivot table - not using the "Drill Anywhere" or "Drill to Detail" functionallity?

Regards
Marius

    What Version are you using?

What client tool are you using? Workspace (iHTML) or Interactive Web Client (Plug-in)

For creating reports the local version of the studio is used.
For consuming reports the user is accessing via Workspace.

Both applications have the version number 9.3.1.0.0.248.

In the 9.3.1 release the iHTML WorkSpace client does not allow for Pivot interaction within a Dashboard. If you click on a pivot that is in Active mode it moves you to the actual Pivot section. I believe in 11.1.1 release you can interact with a pivot on the dashboard.

Working with the Interactive Web Client:

When you place a Pivot on to a Dashboard make it Active then click on Pivot and go to Scripts. You will notice your Event is OnCellDoubleClick

Thare are 2 properties you can use to collect information about the Side and Top Labels
    Pivot1.SideLabelValues
    Pivot1.TopLabelValues

These can then be used to drive filters on other sections and/or move to other dashboards

I hope this answers your question or is at least helpful

How can the collected filter information (Side and Top Labels) be sended to another pivot section? What is the script logic?

Is is possible to let the user only click on the row header (Side Label) [not on a specific cell] and take this filter information to control another pivot table?

When the Pivot is in Active Mode on a Dashboard the expectation is that interaction with the Side and Top labels would be the same as if you were in the Pivot section. Therefore you cannot add any script to take action if the Top or Side Label is clicked.

    As for the OnCellDoubleClick

    the two arrays
    Pivot1.SideLabelValues
    Pivot1.TopLabelValues

will provide you the values of the appropriate label

you then need to look at the following collections
    Pivot1.Object.SideLabels
    Pivot1.Object.TopLabels

to determine the columns/topic items that the values associate with.

if you have side labels such as

    2000 Jan 1
    Feb 1
    Mar 1
    Apr 1
    May 1
    Jun 1

And you double Click on the cell value for Jan 2000 with the following code

    Alert(Pivot1.SideLabelValues)

You will get the following string/array back

    ,2000,Jan

You will need to write JavaScript to parse this array apart and store into variables.

You will also know by looking at the Pivot1.Object.SideLabels collection that there are 2 objects, Year and Month

You can then take the information and apply to filters in other section. It really depends on what ultimately you are trying to do.
