We are trying to load a Journal with the following format:

!JOURNAL=testing;E;R;W;<Entity Curr Adjs>;OTH;;;

!DESC=this is for testing

The Journal is loaded in Working status but is throwing up the below error :

Load Journal completed with errors. Check status for more information.

and the more information is as below

Journal load started: 11:37:50

Line: 1, Error: No valid journal for this line item to be assigned to

Journal load ended: 11:37:50. Elapsed time: 00:00:00

Any idea what may be causing this one?

    You must need to verify some of the points before uploading.

    * The journal which you are trying to upload. It must contain the template in the system. Do ensure you have the relevant template.

    * You must use same line item in your file. Like it must be as it is as you have the metadata. It must not be different.

    Use this Sample Journal Report Script

      ReportDescription=Tax Journals

      POV=S#Actual.Y#2014.P#January.V#<Entity Curr Adjs>

    In the journal header I see "OTH" which should be a journal group. Does this group already exist in the target application? If not, you need a line in the journal load file to define the group before it can be used by a journal. Here is an example.

    !GROUP=OTH;Other journal entries

    When it comes to syntax, you could manually create the journal in the target application, then extract it, and compare the two files to see what's missing. Just an idea.

    That's strange.  So you're saying the journal is actually loading in, but you're throwing an error because of the !FILE_FORMAT line.

    I believe that line is actually optional.  If you load the file without it, do you get an error?  Are there any strange characters around that line?

    Did you check the HFM error log to validate what error/message appears when it failed to load the journals? Can you provide the extracts of the log for the same timestamp?

    if possible, create a journal directly into HFM application via web interface. Extract the journals and check the format it was created.
