Hi,
With the newly released features in DM enabling metadata integration, does anyone know if this still requires the use of 3rd-party/client side server to house a flat file even when integrating with Cloud ERP?
I assume you are talking about integrating with Fusion GL, you don't need to have the flat file from Fusion GL. See the new method to load the data from Fusion GL https://docs.oracle.com/cloud/latest/epm-common/ERPIA/fusion_load_simplified_100x4cec63f4.htm#ERPIA-GUID-260A0834-0E99-4…

If you are asking is there direct integration between Data Management and Fusion for metadata then no that doesn't exist yet, it is still only direct integration for data.
If you are looking for information on loading metadata through DM then you could try - More to life...: EPM Cloud – Data Management – Loading metadata is here
Cheers

Check the document for metadata integration:
https://docs.oracle.com/cloud/latest/epm-common/ERPIA/loading_metadata_102x26c28547.htm#ERPIA-GUID-0F1A2374-9928-4144-9A…
Extract from the same page:
Data Management supports the loading of metadata from a flat file. This feature allows customers to build a metadata load file in any format, from any source, and load the metadata to an Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud environment. Using this approach, users can set property defaults during the load or mapping process.
Excellent blog John, really excellent!
One question if I may, with cloud ERP, if the detail is there in your blog I am missing it, how is the 'Data Storage' type correctly determined when you load from an ERP system, I can see how you can make everything Store Data or Never Share, but with parents I don't see how it can differentiate between shared and the prime parent, as there are no such concepts in ERP 'land'?
The functionality is basically the same method as if you load directly to metadata to planning so the same rules apply there is no magic, with DM you get the ability to provide mappings so you would need to come up with the logic to apply the data storage property.
Thanks John,
what workaround do you use on the shared members then?
This still sounds like a big step down from the on premise solution I built many years ago to integrate ebs with Planning!
You mean the metadata rule functionality built into on-premise FDMEE with EBS as a source, if so the metadata functionality in Data Management is not currently aimed at replacing that, direct metadata integration with fusion is on the roadmap.
Thanks again!
