Is Oracle Linux 8 and RedHat Linux 8 are 100% binary compatible ?
I have a colleague, who claims that there are library differences (especially the libraries/packages - such as openssl , openssh, mod_ssl, etc. which are security related) between Oracle Linux 8 and RedHat 8 (same versions).
I told him that as far as I know Oracle Linux 8 and RedHat 8 (of the same versions, such as Oracle Linux 8.6 vs RedHat 8.6), they are 100% binary compatible. And therefore, the security related packages and libraries should be the same/compatible as well.
Is what I told him correct or is what he claims is correct?
- He failed to show me his source for his claim.
Thank you for your precious time
